On Friday, December 16th, 2022, the NAACP of Ozaukee County will hold its bi-annual Branch Election of officers and at-large members of the Executive Committee via electronic ballot that will be sent to all members.  To vote in the Branch Election, one must be a member in good standing of the Branch thirty (30) days prior to the election. An electronic Ballot will be emailed to members and the poll will be open from 12 pm to 8 pm. Any ballots received after 8 PM will not be counted.

The Branch officer and Executive Committee positions to be elected are as follows: President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Third Vice President, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Secretary, Assistant Secretary and At-Large Members of Executive Committee.

All members whose memberships are current as of May 1st, 2022, have remained continuous throughout the election process, and who live and/or work within Ozaukee County, are eligible to be nominated for these positions.

Janette M. Braverman, NAACP Ozaukee President, recently announced to all members that she will not be seeking re-election and will be stepping down at the end of this year. “I feel great about how far our branch has come, and believe it’s ready for the next strong, diverse leader to lead it into the future,” stated President Braverman. “In January 2021, I established a strategic plan to rebrand, restructure, and grow our branch. With support from our Executive Committee and the community, we’ve been able to serve  stakeholders across our County and beyond.”

At its virtual Regular Membership Meeting on Thursday, December 15th at 6PM, the Branch will receive nominations of candidates after the Branch’s Nominating Committee provides a report of the candidates it has nominated for election. Additional candidates may be nominated “by petition” from the floor and all candidates will provide a brief speech stating their background and qualifications for the elected position they are seeking. Candidates will be elected for a term of two (2) years starting on January 1, 2023.

Members who wish to be nominated must contact the Branch at naacpoz@naacpozaukee.org and submit a signed NAACP Candidate Consent Form with signatures of at least three (3) additional members in good standing. Consent forms can be found on the branch website or may be emailed to potential candidates upon request.

The NAACP is the oldest, largest, and strongest civil rights organization in the US. The Ozaukee County Branch was founded in 1990.
