Given our current climate and all we’ve endured the past year and to-date, our theme for this year’s event will be “RISE UP!”  Therefore, we are including keynote speakers from across the community that have “Risen Up” over the past year and taken their social justice efforts to the next level. As chief communications & diversity officer for Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin and Metropolitan Chicago, Angela is providing leadership that inspires impact, fosters inclusion and  leverages the power of communications for truth-telling and bridge-building. Known for her ability to  create impact through high performing teams in complexly structured environments where change is  constant, Angela is guiding the vision and strategy for community relations, corporate communications  and diversity, equity and inclusion. 

Angela is often recognized for her mindset and lifestyle of leadership excellence. She has been honored  with the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County 2020 Linda McFerrin African  American Nonprofit Leadership Award and named a 2019 Milwaukee Times Black Excellence Corporate  Trailblazer and a 2018 Milwaukee Business Journal Woman of Influence for her ability to lead cross functional teams on large-scale projects for Fortune 100 and large non-profit organizations. Prior to  joining Goodwill, her previous leadership experiences include Ascension Wisconsin (formerly Wheaton  Franciscan Healthcare), Johnson Controls where she received the Chairman’s Award and Pfizer International. 

Community volunteerism is an important aspect of Angela’s leadership journey. She remains connected  to the community through The Milwaukee Chapter of The Links and Professional Dimensions where she held several leadership roles including board president. Angela also serves on the board of directors for  Froedtert Hospital, Carmen Schools of Science and Technology and is a founding board member for African American Leadership Alliance Milwaukee (AALAM) and Sherman Phoenix. 

As an Army wife and mom, Angela was recognized with the Wisconsin National Guard Partnership  Award for being the volunteer leader of a family readiness group serving nearly 300 service members and their families. Family readiness is a critical issue for the Department of Defense contributing to  service member retention and military family support and morale. The Partnership Award highlights  Angela’s 20+ year commitment serving military families. 

Angela holds a Master of Arts degree in Strategic Communication and Leadership (MASCL) from Seton Hall University. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Florida A&M University (FAMU) where she also served as President of the Beta Alpha Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha  Sorority, Inc.  

A product of the Gary, Indiana Emerson Visual & Performing Arts High School, Angela continues to enjoy her passion for music, theatre and exploring culture with her husband and their three daughters in the vibrant and redeveloping city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
