Dr. LuVerda Sayles Martin is a Certified Nurse Midwife at Advocate Aurora Health Care Women’s Care Center. Her job is to provide healthcare to women of childbearing age, including routine prenatal care, delivering babies, postpartum care, and gynecology care. She is committed to the improvement of health outcomes in the African American community and she is active in research aimed at decreasing racial health disparities.

Since the beginning of her career as a registered nurse and through her 21 year career as a Midwife,  LuVerda has remained committed to providing access to quality healthcare and education to underserved populations.

LuVerda holds a Bachelor of Science degree from UW Milwaukee, a Master of Science Degree from Marquette University, and a Doctorate in Nursing from UW Milwaukee. Her doctoral research was focused on improving health outcomes for African American Women through educational efforts aimed to increase Breastfeeding initiation.

She has served as a clinical preceptor for students from Marquette University, UW Milwaukee, Concordia University, Rosalind Franklin College of Medicine, and Alverno College. She also serves as a mentor to students interested in healthcare professions. She is well known for taking non-traditional paths to encourage the success for members of the future generation of leaders.

LuVerda is the wife of Gregory Martin and the mother of three daughters, Gabrielle Lena, a sophomore Pre-medicine major at Howard University, Blair Wanda, a senior at Homestead High School, and Lindsey Priscilla, a 7th Grader at Steffen Middle School.

A native of Milwaukee, she is a proud Milwaukee Public Schools graduate, a member of Christ the King Baptist Church, the current President of the Milwaukee Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated, a Life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority with active membership in Epsilon Kappa Omega Chapter, and an actively involved member of the Milwaukee community. She has been a resident of Mequon for 13 years.
